About The Link Visiting Scheme

Who We Are:

The Link is an award-winning Wokingham charity supporting lonely and socially isolated older people, helped by a large team of dedicated volunteer befrienders.
“My volunteer is a lifeline; her visits are the highlight of my week”
What We Do:
The Link’s solution to the problem of loneliness and isolation is simple and effective. We provide a range of friendship-based services, including telephone-based interim support, long-term one-to-one befriending, and small interest groups, as part of our innovative pathway approach, designed to help someone from a point of crisis to achieving social wellbeing.
The pandemic has only made things worse, and our services are in greater demand than ever before. Amongst our existing clients we have witnessed notable declines in mood, physical mobility, and mental sharpness.
Why We Need You:
Extreme loneliness is a hidden disease which is crippling and causes enormous mental and physical harm. For marginalised older people who are house-bound and lack digital skills, they become withdrawn, lose motivation, their physical and mental health suffers. Not only does social isolation cause immense suffering for those affected, but it also places great pressure on families, carers, health, and social services.
Last year, the Link worked with over 1000 clients with annual service costs of £280,000. It is very important to us that we provide our support free of charge and, as such, fundraising plays a very big part in the work that we do. Your skydive could transform the lives of older people by adding hours of friendship, laughter and fun!

How it works

Booking a charity jump

If you need help putting together your jump package, our Sales Team is more than happy to assist you. We’ll ensure you get a charity discount of £25 off our 10,000ft or 15,000ft skydives when your charity is selected. Determine if your charity expects you to meet a fundraising target or if you will be self-funding the skydive.

You’re all set to start fundraising once you’ve booked your skydive! Your charity can help you with fundraising, and we’ll be available to answer any questions you have about the skydive!
