About Care for Veterans
Who We Are:
Care for Veterans (formerly The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home) was established in 1919 to care for soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, we have provided long term nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and award-winning end of life care to disabled ex-service personnel. They may have served in the RAF, Army, Royal Navy or auxiliary services.
What We Do:
Our care and rehabilitation includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and neuropsychology, as well as social and recreational activities and a chaplaincy service – all delivered from our rehabilitation facility in Worthing, West Sussex. Currently, our residents range in age from people in their 30s to their 90s. The majority of those we care for have an Acquired Brain Injury and/or a degenerative neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s.
Why We Need You:
Care for Veterans receives no regular Government funding and each year we need to raise over £1.9 million to enable us to continue our first class and award-winning care that our country’s veterans need and deserve.
