About Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Who We Are:

Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust is a registered charity providing an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) across Wiltshire and surrounding areas, including Bath.

The charity began operating on 15 March 1990 and the helicopter and crew have saved countless lives. After sharing a helicopter with Wiltshire Police for the first 24 years, the charity became a stand-alone air ambulance in January 2015, using a Bell 429 helicopter. The air ambulance can reach anywhere in Wiltshire within nine minutes and the speed of our helicopter, along with the skill of our crew, can make the difference between life and death.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance are called to three missions a day on average.

What We Do:

Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity and relies on donations to continue flying and saving lives. It receives no regular direct funding from the Government or National Lottery grants. It costs £4 million a year to keep the air ambulance flying, that’s just over £11,000 per day. Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s paramedics are trained in critical care skills and, together with the specialist medical equipment they use, it enables them to deliver gold standard medical care to patients. We are operational up to 19 hours a day, 365 days a year and is called to, on average, three incidents a day in its helicopter and two Rapid Response Vehicles (cars).

Why We Need You:

During 2021 Wiltshire Air Ambulance continued to operate on the frontline and were called to 1,104 missions.
